HDS Doorways

Overview
Doorways is a comprehensive SaaS product designed to streamline workflows for public housing organizations. The product supports the entire lifecycle of case management, including occupancy, finance, reporting, and maintenance. As part of the product team, I helped design the user interface for the MVP, creating a platform that empowers public housing entities to deliver better outcomes for their clients.
Requirements
The design needed to address several key challenges. Public housing organization involves managing complex workflows, such as accounting, inspections, work orders, wait list management, and reporting, among others. This required an interface that could support these interconnected processes without overwhelming users. Additionally, the platform needed to be accessible to a diverse range of users, including those who might not be technologically savvy. As an MVP, it was crucial to establish a flexible and scalable foundation that could accommodate future feature expansions. Furthermore, the platform required effective data visualization to present information in an actionable and digestible format, enabling users to make informed decisions.
Solution
To address these challenges, I designed an intuitive navigation system that organized features by task categories, reducing cognitive load for users. I created interactive prototypes to test and refine workflows, ensuring they mirrored real-world processes and minimized friction for a more user-friendly experience. To combat ambiguity and make the platform accessible to non-tech-savvy users, I incorporated clear visual cues, consistent labeling, and step-by-step guidance within the interface. Interactive dashboards were designed to visualize key metrics and client statuses, allowing users to quickly prioritize their actions and stay focused on critical tasks with confidence.
